Reflections
360
This week I’ve been experimenting with 360 video. These are impressions of places: the skies at sunset, a dry arroyo, the desert landscape.
On Wednesday I head to the Rio Grande bosque.
I get to the river’s edge and take some images of the river rushing past. It’s been bitterly cold over the last few days, and the river has chunks of ice. They rush past, and occasionally bobble to the surface looking like an animal coming up for air.
I spend time walking through the winter-dried willows and reeds rimming the river. The water is low, so I’m able to hike through places that normally would be covered with water or inaccessible due to quicksand.
A sign appears, warning boaters to pull aside. I walk closer to the river’s edge, trying to see the topography of the water. Ahead is a weir where the river drops off almost in a small waterfall. The water picks up speed turning to a tiny rush of rapids.
This needs to be seen with more than a 360 camera. I must come back.
